Second Floor Space Becomes A Teenager's Bedroom

Second Floor Bedroom! AFTER. The more bedrooms a home has the more likely it will appeal to a larger audience when selling. Whenever possible style and stage the extra room into a kid's bedroom. Buyers will either love the bedroom for "Billy" or simply convert into an office. Conversely, buyers are less likely to visualize the office as a bedroom.

Get A New Kitchen For The Cost of Paint

Kitchen - AFTER. Fresh spring green wall color wakes up the kitchen like the smell of coffee or that first sip of morning juice. Sagging sliding door panels and hardware take a break and leave for good. Artwork (vintage dishes) replaces the precariously displayed pottery on bulky shelves. Two cottage style, painted yellow, caned seat, chairs replace the mismatched chairs from before. Cook books and cooking accessories are reorganized and displayed with purpose. Windows washed. Floor scrubbed. The smell of fresh paint is heavenly. Let's get cooking!

Leather club chairs mingle making better conversation separated rather than hovering like wall flowers. Hydrangea picked from the side garden. Everything in this image came from this same house - with the exception of the cocktail table - brought in at the last minute to round out the collection. This is what you can do with your stuff. What Would Jay Do...?

Ok, here it goes. These comments are completely petty. Consider them "What would Jay do" tips for your own home.

1. You know those tags attached to the ends of the cords of table and floor lamps? Cut them off - immediately.

2. If you have any un-lit candles in your home, light them now, let them burn for 30 seconds and blow them out - what's the point of having candles if you never burn them - there is no such thing as "for decoration only".

3. Display things you would actually use on the kitchen counter - ie. Cappuccino Machine, Toaster, Electric Mixer, Cook Books. Even Olive Oils and special Vinegars look amazing near the range - not to mention handy. Kitchens should look like they're being used, not just looked at.
