What We Do

"When Jay Nuhring re-thinks your rooms, it's not a do-over. He's not starting from scratch. He's looking at what you have, and finding a way to make it work better. He's putting your pieces together in a totally new way. A way that calms. Or invites. Or defines. Or surprises. After all, you have a story, and what you have in your home tells bits and pieces of that story. So let's put the story together in a way that reflects you best. What you're about. Where you've been. The things you love".

Naples Florida Living Room Gets An Easy Elegant Update

Naples, Florida Condo Living Room - BEFORE.  Room appears out of balance.  All of the furniture has migrated along one long wall that connects the dining and living room.  Too much importance and attention given to the TV and adjacent wall.  Space seems flat, mono-chromatic, dull, lifeless.

Living Room - AFTER.  A couple simple changes wake up this room.  The furniture shifts counter-clockwise, taking pressure off of the primary wall.  Accent chairs and occasional pieces round-out the conversation area by facing the sectional rather than stand next to.  Artwork was re-hung creating a better use of the wall space and de-emphasizing the TV.  Finally, color was added with accent pillows and coffee table accessories.  A lighter, brighter wall color and different carpet was recommended to this homeowner.

Living Room - AFTER.  TV is better integrated into the collection of furnishings - taking it down a few notches  - making it appear less important and less bossy.  Room feels comfortable, inviting, interesting and beautiful.

Living Room AFTER.  View 3.  Bureau (next image below) is going against the wall behind the white leather Eames chairs and to the right of the large "Faces" painting.  This piece will serve as a wine and cocktail bar/buffet.

Found this vintage bureau at a local Naples consignment shop - www.theposhplum.com.  Chrome hardware, faux black alligator drawer fronts and walnut veneer.  This piece will be placed to the left of the patio doors behind the white leather Eames lounge chairs.  A table lamp on top and possibly a mirror above the bureau will complete the composition.

Living & Dining Rooms Get An Elegant Update

Living Room - BEFORE

Living Room - AFTER.  Furniture does a Dosey-Doe and moves to the right.  One chair "sits" this dance out.  The petite writing desk, once under the bay window,  cozies up behind the golden yellow love seat and holds a lovely porcelain lamp.  Book shelves are organized, coffee table (antique parquet flooring from a French chateau) is accessorized and the room feels balanced and inviting.

Dining Room - BEFORE.  Too many "legs" in this picture.  In addition the walls are striated - emphasizing the vertical lines in the furniture.  The room feels like an entomologist's box of specimens.  Result is the room appears too busy - anxious - unsettled.  Not the best conditions for consuming dinner.

Dining Room - AFTER.  Accessories are edited.  Table gets an extension and additional chairs are invited around.  Softer off-white line chandelier shades replace the square-edged muted mica shades - creating a lighter, brighter, more updated look.  An orchid in an antique green flower pot finishes the table top.  The homeowner's collection of antique clocks sit handsomely on display in the corner.
